1st Kata - A Blunt Intro For an Edgelord
My name is Vergil. As one of the newest "Starfallen", I have been made aware of this world's troubles. The responsibility of saving it falls to us, but if I am to truly cooperate with others, I will keep no secrets as to what this world now deals with.
I am the eldest son of a legendary demon, the dark knight Sparda, who rebelled against his own kind to free humanity from enslavement. Though I tried to emulate him, my foolish pursuit of power made a mockery of his legacy. I am responsible for the deaths of countless innocents and only took notice of how unforgivable my crimes are when I was stripped of my pride. My path through darkness brought only one thing to be proud of: my son's ability to stop me.
Irony dictates my punishment is to instead save the world. Should my history drive away any chances of cooperation, then so be it. I intend on seeing this through, all the same.

I mean, we've all done stuff we're not proud of. Who doesn't probably have a family member hunting them for the countless deaths they've caused?
The point is you're here and not there, you've been called here for a reason and we, the starfallen, gotta stick together. You've learned and now you're, you know, not wherever you came from. New world. New slate. New chance. Just make it count and you've got nothing to worry about.

Besides, it might be nice for an adventure to not end with a visit to the demon world, for once.

On the plus side, no demon worlds. On the downside, you will be expected to explore the innumerable shards that keep crashing into this world. But you'll get paid for it! So it's not that bad.

(An angel? Working that kind of sass? He supposes if demons could have all types among them, maybe angels can, too.)
That would make us natural enemies, but I do not strike someone down without sufficient reason, divine or otherwise. It's in poor taste to mention mercenary work after such a statement, but it seems this world and its fragments have much in store.

Honestly, you seem like you've also had some bumps along the way. But if the people of Concord and the other starfallen are cool with me, they'll probably be okay with you. As long as you're willing to, you know, not be a complete ass. If you start being a complete ass, then we'll see about natural enemies, but I'll cut you some slack and maybe we can be friends instead.

Before you, I had not met one who became an angel or a demon through "shenanigans". I did, however, meet a man who took a more malevolent approach towards such goals. A man who sacrificed his wife and spilled his daughter's blood to attain power in which he was unfit to wield. A man who was already a demon in all ways but literal.
Naturally, he lacked a sense of humor.

Which is weird to me, given how demons are known for having good times. Or maybe that's just me. Either way, as long as you're not entirely humorless too, there may be some hope for you.
Also, by 'shenanigans' I mean I was accidentally exposed to concentrated energy that transformed me. Which is a thing, I imagine, you may be more familiar with. But it made me what I am for better or for worse.
Honestly, I've been having a good time with it.
