RRI - Deductions

Greetings once more to our beloved Starfallen!

You've all done well in exploring that new shard; I'm given to understand that you all faced your fair share of troubles out there, and have risen admirably to the task. And from what I've overheard, you've all made your fair share of discoveries while you were out there as well!

A few juicy little tidbits have already been passed along and started circulating among our Scholars, but as we all know, hearsay is no substitute for firsthand experience. So we'd like to hear what it was like out there in your own terms, and work together to puzzle out what may have happened out there!

I'm sure some of you are also wondering exactly what made this shard become attracted to us in the first place. And that's a very good question. Never stop asking questions!

For now, I'll sit back and allow you all to collectively think some of these matters through. But before I forget: Some of you have found some interesting artifacts and items of interest out there and passed them along to us for study. Feel free to take this chance to follow up and we'll tell you what we've learned!

Wow, good thing WE didn't go that way, I have no idea how I'd get the DAHAK out of there if it started getting too hot to touch!

I got no reason to lie about it. Maybe give the crater a wide berth if you’re going in on the Dahak.

At least the cliffs were cool with the stiff breezes. Though now that I think about it, they may be worth mentioning too. There were weird caves. They looked like things lived in ‘em, but they lined up in a way that looked the cliffs were, at one point, a single mass. Maybe whatever lived in ‘em is responsible for the breaking?

What about that big broken crater you keep mentioning? Maybe something exploded up there

I don't know rocks and cliffs but I know explosions and that could probably crack the earth if it was big enough to make a smouldering crater right?

Maybe? That's something best left up to the experts. You have my sketches and notes. Maybe Larus has some insight or something? I dunno. I'll poke him about it whenever he shows up next.

The underground stuff does seem to be important though, there was underground homes and stuff too

I couldn't get down to look at it, the winds were too strong for us to get down safely. We'll have to go back when we've got the tools and means for it. Maybe see if one of the guilds has something that let us get down to get a closer look. Or maybe we can find some other way down that don't involve scaling a cliff face in dangerously high winds.

There was a tunnel in the Oasis too, but it was collapsed

Probably. With your Dahak and a new toy I just got, maybe we can clear a path down. Might be a good place to start, find a way down to see what's there. We found a skeleton in the mesa, like ten fuckin feet tall. It had to come from somewhere, we found no, like, structures or anything. And I don't believe they're nomads or something like that. The only things we found were, like, burial mounds.

I'm pretty sure nomads wouldn't be able to do things like refine metal either, you need an entire industry for that kind of thing right? And you'd have to mine it out too

You can't fold that stuff up and put it on your back even if you're ten feet tall

Nomads are not known for their metallurgy, it's true. There's more to this shard than initially appears. Shame we don't have anything to really do excavation. We'll just have to make due with what we've got to hand.

That may not be entirely true, Adah.

Opening up a collapsed tunnel may be a dangerous task, and a big job for a small team of Starfallen- even one with what I'm pretty sure is some sort of mechanical lifter- but even a place like Concord has its share of career miners and diggers who would know exactly how to do it.

I'll look around and see what I can arrange. If we can get a crew together to open up the tunnel, can I presume at least some of you would be interested in taking a deeper look?
